Christmas Ornament Design Challenge

HOLIDAY NOTICE: Next delivery date is Friday 27th July.

Ok, so I cheated a little for the Christmas Ornament Design Challenge held by the Art Elements Blog team. When the challenge to create a handmade christmas ornament was launched in Novemeber I had just made some ornaments that were perfect for it.

I've recently been skip diving or (dumpster diving as they call it in the US) at a local glaziers. I think that it is awful that so much waste glass is thrown away and I am making it my mission to use some of it up.

On my last visit the skip had recently been emptied. Last time it was full with glass.

Back in the summer I went on a course to learn how to do copper foil stained glass. Some of the glass that is discarded has lovely texture to it. This is because it is used as privacy glass usually for a bathroom window or door. I managed to salavage some of this and using the technique I learned I created these Christmas Trees and Stars.

They look great don't they and they have been selling well at the local fairs I have been doing.

Thanks for looking.and I'd like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and all the very best for the holiday season

I love to see recycled glass, I have a big box here, I was given some very old stained glass window panels, the panels couldn't be saved but I removed all the glass and stored it, one day I will put it to good use!

These glass ornaments are beautiful. I like the little touch of bead sparkle on each one. I'd buy one if I saw yoy at a craft fair. Is it hard to do the copper foil stained glass technique?
